On Saturday, October 1, 2011, NYAB proudly presents “Moonlight Dance (Egwu Onwa) - A Night in Igboland.” This affair is in celebration of our rich Nigerian and Igbo culture, heritage, food, and music. The intent of this event is to bring the Igbo village to you by way of traditional storytelling, dance and merrymaking. If you have never visited Nigeria or participated in egwu onwa or if you just love the Nigerian and Igbo culture, this will be your opportunity to experience a bit of it. So begin your preparations and spread the word! Ladies, get your best ankara, laces, kente, head gears, and dancing shoes ready. Gentlemen, get your kaftans, agbadas, “senators”, hats, and dancing shoes ready as well. Channel your inner African/Nigerian/Igbo and come dressed in your best traditional wear as authentic (vintage) or as modernized. The event is open to all who are 21+ with proper ID. While we stress the attendance of Igbo young professional adults from across the country, NYAB opens its doors to ALL persons regardless of nationality. Our goal is to celebrate and share our culture with the world.
